The Impact of Advanced Economic Intelligence and other Game-Changing Disruptive Technologies on the Energy Market
Colin P. Fenton, Managing Partner, Blacklight Research & Fellow, Columbia University Center on Global Energy Policy
Colin Fenton is the Nate Silver of oil and gas economic research. Texas Business Quarterly has described his track record for accurate, but controversial analysis of energy markets as “spooky.” In 2014, he not only predicted OPEC’s infamous shift in production policy by seven months, but he also used economic and employment reports to predict a Donald Trump victory in an election – two years before any votes were cast. Colin started his career at the U.S. Department of State, then built the Goldman Sachs commodities research franchise, then managed commodities for Stanley Druckenmiller’s hedge fund, then launched his own capital hedge fund. He then sold that hedge fund to J.P. Morgan in 2010 so he could lead their commodities research business. Watch a recent clip of Colin on Bloomberg.
After predicting the collapse of oil prices, he launched his own analysis firm, Blacklight Research and began investing directly in disruptive technology for energy. He comes to OilComm & FleetComm as our opening keynote speaker to provide even more predictions about the future – specifically related to digitalization, automation, big data and a few new startups and entrants that are “killing it” in the oil industry. Colin’s track record speaks for itself – you don’t want to miss what he has to say at OilComm. Register here!
